High quality shredded tropical Hawaiian Acacia Confusa Root Bark harvested fresh to order. This bark is from tees grown in rich organic soil and is harvested in a sustainable way that preserves the vitality of the trees. Acacia has been used by mankind for thousands of years. It has been used in dyes, medicine, tannin, woodworking and much more throughout the ages. Before synthetic dyes Acacia Confusa was prized for the rich ruby red dye that could be created from the bark. It was also a favorite material for making tannin to treat leather products. This product is ideal for the production of a non toxic and all natural ruby red dye. To produce dye from this product simply boil the bark with 4 parts water to 1 part vinegar. The vinegar acts as a fixative and binds the dye to the cloth preventing the color from fading after washing. You can control the color of the dye by experimenting with the ratio of water to bark. Concentrated formulations will produce a very rich ruby red color while more dilute concentrations will produce a nice pink hue.
